Would Riverside 7-Eleven Gas Station Thwart Decades of Revitalization Effort?, Southold Town Potential "Cyber-Incident," Southampton CPF Hearings, Subscribe Today

Good Morning!

• We're expecting cloudy skies today, with a high near 57 and a 40 percent chance of rain, mainly after 4 p.m., with a light southwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 miles per hour. We're expecting rain overnight, with temperatures in the low 50s. Showers will continue into Wednesday morning, and we're expecting cloudy skies to persist throughout the day, with a high near 60. • As several recent steps have moved forward the redevelopment of Riverside, just across the river from downtown Riverhead, residents here are concerned that the proposed construction of a 7-Eleven and gas station on the traffic circle at the center of the hamlet will thwart decades of effort to build a walkable, inviting downtown. • Southold Town is investigating a potential cyber incident affecting town servers, which affects the town's ability to communicate with residents via email. The town said Monday in a statement on its website that it has "contracted our partners at the County and State levels to assist us in this investigation. During the course of this investigation, we regret to inform you that all town services will be limited. We will remain open and available to assist you in any way by phone or in person during regular hours. We are working to maintain essential town services and will continue to work to restore all systems."

• The Shelter Island Town Board will discuss an update to the town's ethics code and a master plan for town facilities at its 1 p.m. work session this afternoon. Here's the agenda, and the meeting can be viewed live on the town's YouTube channel.

• The Southampton Town Board holds public hearings on CPF acquisitions at 11 West Shore Drive and 87 Shore Drive in North Sea and 51 Beach Plum Road in Noyac, along with changes to town code regarding the names of housing overlay districts and expirations of approvals for Multifamily Planned Residential Development Districts at its 6 p.m. regular meeting this evening.
