Southold Candidates Meet the League, Greenport Planning Listening Session, Ocean Friendly Happy Hour

• We're expecting patchy frost before 9 a.m. today, with sunny skies, a high temperature near 55 degrees and a north wind 6 to 8 miles per hour. It will be partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 42. Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 58, an a 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 2 p.m., and Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 57 and a 40 percent chance of rain.

• By the time the League of Women Voters of The Hamptons, Shelter Island & The North Fork held their Southold Town Board Candidate Debate Thursday evening — the third and final Southold debate of this campaign season — most of the voters in the room had already heard the candidates’ pitches for why they should be elected to town office, and most already seemed to have made up their minds about how they were going to vote. But there were a few clarifying moments throughout the evening. Here’s our hot take.

• Early voting continues today at any of 28 locations throughout Suffolk County, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hours of early voting vary each day through Nov. 2. Here's the schedule and locations. • Southold Democratic Town Clerk candidate Abigail Field writes in this week about what the Town Clerk job means to her. Read her letter.

• The Greenport Village Planning Board will hold a listening session with the business community this afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Third Street Firehouse. Topics of discussion include zoning and planning concerns in the village's downtown commercial corridor, and how the village can "diversify and attract a range of businesses, including retail and service providers and work toward a year-round vibrant commercial hub. • The Surfrider Foundation's Eastern Long Island Chapter will hold an Ocean Friendly Happy Hour this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Noah's restaurant at 136 Front Street in Greenport.
