Honoring Veterans, Eastport Blood Drive, Riverside Redevelopment Gets A Boost

• We're expecting mostly sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 45 degrees but wind chill values between 20 and 30 early, with a freeze warning in effect until 9 a.m. The wind will be out of the west at 13 to 18 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 34 mph. It will be partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 34. Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 52, and Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 53.
• As several recent steps have moved forward the redevelopment of Riverside, Southampton Town has received a $19 million grant for its Riverside sewage treatment plant through the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Read More.
• The Eastport Fire Department on Union Avenue hosts a New York Blood Center blood drive today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can also be made online here.
• The Sag Harbor Veterans Day Parade steps off at 10 a.m. from upper Main Street, and continues through town and down Bay Street to the American Legion Hall. Here Are The Details.
• Southampton's annual Veterans Day Parade and Service steps off at 10:45 a.m. from Southampton Presbyterian Church and goes down Jobs Lane, followed by a ceremony at Agawam Park. This year's guest speaker is former U.S. Army nurse veteran Joan A. Furey. Find Out More.
• The Riverhead Combined Veterans Committee will hold its Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the World War Memorial at the corner of Court Street and West Main Street, on the grounds of the Suffolk County Historical Museum. Here's More Info. Ceremonies at Calverton National Ceremony today have been cancelled due to the federal government shutdown.
• The Southold American Legion Griswold Terry Glover Post 803 will host its ceremony at 11:11 a.m. by the flagpole on the lawn of the Post at 51655 Main Road. Here are the details.
• Shelter Island's Mitchell Post 281 at 1 Bateman Road holds its annual ceremony honoring Shelter Island veterans at 11 a.m. The event includes a 50/50 raffle to support renovations at the Legion. Find Out More.
• The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation will hold its Annual Flag Ceremony at 11 a.m. in honor of veterans at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center. Find Out More.
• Looking ahead to this Saturday, the North Fork Arts Center in Greenport holds a special screening of "Good Morning, Vietnam" at 7 p.m., followed by a conversation with Marine veteran Gerry Byrne, who will share reflections on what it means to serve – and to continue serving beyond active duty.
