Riverhead Votes To Move Forward with Jazz Loft Deal for the Vail-Leavitt, Riverside 7-Eleven Meeting, Miawaki MiniForests


Good Morning!
• We're expecting cloudy skies this morning, with a 20 percent chance of rain before 1 p.m., gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 48, with a calm wind becoming north around 6 miles per hour. We're expecting areas of frost overnight, with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 35. Thursday will be partly sunny, with a high near 51, and Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 56.
• The Riverhead Town Board deemed The Jazz Loft qualified and eligible to purchase and renovate the Vail-Leavitt Music hall in a 4-1 vote Tuesday evening. We'll have more details later today.
• The Flanders, Riverside & Northampton Community Association hosts the owners of the property at the Riverside traffic circle where a proposed 7-Eleven is proposed at its 7 p.m. meeting this evening at the Crohan Community Center at 655 Flanders Road.
• North Fork Environmental Council President Mark Haubner will discuss Miawaki MiniForests, which the NFEC is involved in bringing to the East End, at the Southold Unitarian Universalist Meeting House, 51900 Main Road in Southold, on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. All are welcome — to find out more, read his recent Climate Local Now column for The Beacon. • The East Hampton Arts Council hosts a Creative Networking Night this Friday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. at East Hampton Town Hall. Filmmaker Joanne Roberts, artist Mariah Ke'Olani, actor Meg Gibson and guitar maker and musician Carlos Barrios will discuss their work. All are welcome.
• New York State Assemblyman Tommy John Schiavoni is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots program at his office at 3350 Noyac Road, Building B in Sag Harbor during business hours — Monday through Friday from 9 to 5 p.m., through Dec. 12.
