• We're expecting mostly sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 77 degrees and a southwest wind 5 to 9 miles per hour. There's a 60 percent chance of showers between 8 p.m. and midnight, with mostly cloudy skies overnight and a low around 62. Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 77, and we're expecting showers on Thursday, with cloudy skies and a high near 75.

• After a lengthy hiatus, the New York State Department of Transportation resumed work Monday on a new roundabout at the intersection of County Road 48 and Route 25 in Greenport — the intersection with a blinking light at the north end of Greenport's Main Street. Read More.

• The Southampton Town Board will hold public hearings on the historic landmark designation of the Nathan Topping Cook Family Home at 439 Hayground Road in Bridgehampton, and on the acquisition of property at 1232 North Sea Road in North Sea at its 6 p.m. regular meeting this evening. • The Southold Town Board's work session and regular meeting originally scheduled for today have been moved to Thursday due to Rosh Hashanah. L'shana Tova, a happy new year to y'all.
