A Housing Trust in East Hampton, Riverhead First Baptist Housing Closer to Reality, Piano Rites, Shelter Island Artist Studio Tour

Good Morning!
• We're expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 85 degrees and a northeast wind 7 to 9 miles per hour. It will be partly cloudy overnight, with a low around 66. Saturday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 82, and Sunday will be sunny, with a high near 86.
• Many resort destinations throughout the United States have active non-profit community housing trusts, which build and manage housing for people who work at essential jobs in communities where the cost of real estate is well out of reach of even professional-class workers. But on the East End, despite the great wealth and expansive number of non-profit organizations here, community housing trusts are not a major part of the landscape. • The long-anticipated community housing at Riverhead's First Baptist Church is a bit closer to reality this month, after receiving a Certificate of Necessity for $1.5 million in infrastructure funding from the Suffolk County Legislature Aug. 5 and the closure, also on Aug. 5, of a Riverhead Town Board public hearing on changes to the zoning of the property. • The second of three piano concerts organized by the Rites of Spring Music Festival, "Piano Rites," will be held this evening at 5 p.m. with pianist Fei-Fei Dong. The third and final concert will be by pianist Vladimir Petrov on Sunday, Aug. 17, also at 5 p.m. Find Out More.
• The Surfrider Foundation holds a Friendraiser membership drive this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Low Tide Bar at The Sound View in Greenport, where they'll be talking about the work they do to protect our marine environment while enjoying the sunset and beachside beverages. • ARTSI, a collaboration between artists on Shelter Island, holds its 15th annual Open Studio Tour, a free self-guided tour of 21 artist studios throughout the island on Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 5 p.m. Here's More Info.
• The Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild of Cutchogue holds its third annual Arts & Crafts Fair “On the Bay” at Veterans Beach in Mattituck tomorrow, Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Find Out More.
