East End Arts on the Move, Public Access Changes, Jaws at 50

Good Morning!

• We're expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 77 degrees and a north wind 6 to 8 miles per hour, becoming west in the afternoon. It will be mostly clear overnight, with a low around 55. Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 79, and Friday will be partly sunny, with a high near 78 and a 60 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m.

• As the face of downtown Riverhead is expected to dramatically change with the imminent construction of the Town Square, the East End Arts community Art & Music School is in the process of moving from its East Main Street campus to a temporary location at 206 Griffing Avenue, where it will stay while the Town Square work is underway. • The Southampton Town Board has tabled a resolution on using Community Housing Fund money to purchase three parcels in Riverside for a 40-unit affordable housing and mixed use development to Sept. 23, in anticipation of holding a meeting beforehand to discuss the project with members of the Flanders and Riverside community.

• As of Friday, August 22, 2025, Riverhead Town cable provider Altice has moved the Town’s Public, Educational and Government Access Channel 22 to Channel 1310. Residents will need to turn to Channel 1310 to continue to view Riverhead Town Board meetings and other public service programming. In an announcement Tuesday, the town said "this change was not requested by the Town of Riverhead and was initiated without prior notice."

• The Living Water Church at 24 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue hosts a New York Blood Center blood drive today from 1:45 to 7:45 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can also be made online here.

• Mighty Ramon and the Phantoms of Soul performs the last of this year's Summer Showcase Concert Series concerts at the gazebo at Youngs Ave. and the Main Road in Southold. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Here's More Info.

• This Saturday evening, Aug. 30 at 7 p.m., the North Fork Arts Center hosts a 50th Anniversary screening of JAWS — Steven Spielberg’s legendary 1975 film that made beachgoers everywhere a little more cautious, in conjunction with the East End Seaport Museum's exhibition, "Frank Mundus: The Man & the Monsters," which documents the legacy of the famous shark-hunter turned conservationist. Following the screening, NFAC welcomes Frank Mundus's daughter, Pat Mundus for a live Q&A. Tickets are $25 and proceeds will benefit both the East End Seaport Museum and The North Fork Arts Center. Find Out More.
