East Hampton to Use Wind Farm Money For Montauk Dredging, Weekend Festivals & Events

Led by members of the Greenport Fire Department, a hefty crew of North Fork volunteer firefighters took their annual six-mile hike, in full turnout gear, from the Greenport Firehouse to the townwide Sept. 11 memorial service at Jean Cochran Park in Southold. The walk took about three hours.

• We're expecting sunny skies today, with a high temperature near 74 degrees and a northeast wind 8 to 10 miles per hour. It will be mostly clear overnight, with a low around 58. Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 75, and Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 78.
• East Hampton's windfall from the South Fork Wind Farm is being used by the town to commence a much-needed federal dredging of the inlet to Lake Montauk, the biggest commercial fishing port in New York State. Read More.
• Celebrating 50 years of Springs Historical Society and Springs Library, the 5th Annual Arts and Archives, curated by Teri Kennedy, runs today through Sunday at Ashawagh Hall. Find Out More.

• Sag Harbor's Harborfest is this Saturday and Sunday, celebrating the village's maritime heritage with whaleboat races, rowing demonstrations, music, street vendors and an arts & crafts fair in Marine Park. Find Out More.
• The San Gennaro Feast of the Hamptons will be held this Saturday and Sunday in Hampton Bays. The celebration is a reflection of a tradition that began in September 1926 when newly arrived immigrants from Naples congregated along Mulberry Street in Little Italy to continue the tradition of celebrating San Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. • The Peconic Land Trust's Bridge Gardens in Bridgehampton hosts a reception for its current sculpture exhibition, "Uncommon Ground VI" on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Here's More Info.
