Good Morning!

• In the 18 years the North Fork Reform Synagogue had been holding its annual North Fork Foodie Tour of 20 farms and food purveyors here, it had never rained all day — until this Sunday. But that didn't stop crowds from turning out to hear from local farmers about their growing practices and the trials of raising livestock, to hear how to make delicious recipes out of fresh local ingredients from Slow Food East End Chef Gail Watson, and to hear from speakers on topics ranging from encouraging students to grow food in school gardens to beekeeping, coffee roasting and no-till farming. See Our Photos.
• The Southold Town Board meets in executive session this morning, and its work session is not slated to begin until 12:15 p.m., at which time the board is expected to discuss draft short-term rental code, bilingual early literacy programs, results of the town's recent cell phone service code, coastal resiliency of state roads and an update on the town's intermunicipal agreement with Greenport Village for its housing plan. The board will also hold a public hearing on bonding to pay for a payloader for the town's solid waste management district at its 4:30 p.m. regular meeting this afternoon. Here's the agenda for both meetings, here's the Zoom login for the work session, and for the regular meeting.
• The East Hampton Town Board will hear an update from the Montauk Food Pantry and proposed legislation regarding accessory dwelling units at its 11 a.m. work session this morning at the Montauk Library. Here's the agenda, and the meeting can be viewed live on LTV's YouTube channel.
• The Southampton Town Board holds a special meeting this morning at 10 a.m. to hold a public hearing on proposed CPF water quality projects for 2026, followed by a 1 p.m. regular meeting at which the board will hold numerous public hearings on eliminating term limits and reducing the terms for zoning and planning board members from seven years to four years, on changes to the income definitions for tax exemptions and on several CPF purchases. Here's the agenda, and both meetings can be viewed live on Sea-TV's YouTube channel.
• The Shelter Island Town Board discusses drought and daytime irrigation recommendations and waterways, wetlands and site plan applications at its 1 p.m. work session this afternoon. Here's the agenda, and the meeting can be viewed live on the town's YouTube channel.
• East End school board members, PTA leaders, parents, residents, and high school students who are newly serving this school year as ex-officio school board trustees are all invited to the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island and North Fork’s free forum titled “School Boards, the Training Wheels of Democracy: What You Should Know and How to Get Involved," next Thursday, Sept. 18 at LTV Studios in Wainscott.
