Blizzard Warning, States of Emergency Issued in Advance of Snow
A Blizzard Warning from 6 a.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday was issued for Long Island by the National Weather Service in the wee hours of Saturday morning, as the region are now expecting to receive between 13 and 18 inches of snow Sunday evening into Monday, with the possibility of major coastal flooding.
After ICE Returns to Riverhead Saturday, Residents Ask for ActionFederal immigration agents again returned to Riverhead and Riverside on Wednesday, in a series of raids that began around 7 a.m. in a neighborhood off of Middle Road in Riverhead. A crowd gathered at the Riverhead Town Board’s meeting that evening urging the board to pass a resolution drafted by Latino advocacy group OLA of Eastern Long Island aimed at protecting public safety during the raids. |

The 36th Annual Maritime Festival is expected to get its permit to return this year from Greenport Village next week, organized by the new Greenport Business Owners Alliance, a collaboration between several Greenport businesses and community groups.

A top reason North Fork homeowners keep blocking affordable housing every year is that it doesn’t match the North Fork’s “unique character”. These people are right about one thing: we cannot solve our housing crisis without protecting the North Fork’s unique character. But most North Forkers against housing are consistently wrong about what the North Fork’s unique character actually is.

Forum Will Explore “America and the Black Vote”
The African American Educational Cultural Festival will hold a forum on “America and the Black Vote” next Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. at the Riverhead Free Library.
The non-partisan event “brings together civic leaders, attorneys, and advocates to discuss Black political participation and its impact on American democracy,” according to the organizers.
